Market Gardener Training Program Open for Applications
The application for the Market Gardener Training Program is again open for this year. Applications are due December 20th, 2019 by 5pm. The Market Gardener Certification is a requirement to get the Gardening for Greenbacks grant from the City of Cleveland.
The Market Gardener Training Program is a training program offered by Ohio State University Extension’s Urban Agriculture Program in Cuyahoga County. This ten-week program will provide a foundation for urban agriculture and small business development to prepare participants to start their own enterprises growing produce and other agricultural products for the market. Classes will meet Thursday evenings, from 6:00 – 9:00 pm, February 6th through April 9th.
October 3rd, 2019 the City of Cleveland Department of Economic Development celebrated at the Rid-All Farm, (past recipient of the City’s Gardening for Greenback grant program), CoBank and Farm Credit Mid America renewing their partnership with the City by recommitting additional grant funds to the program. The City of Cleveland is proud to be a partner with CoBank and Farm Credit Mid America in order to further the growth of urban farms in the City’s neighborhoods to bring fresh produce to the neighborhoods of Cleveland.
